A Flemish Food Fest! It sounded really promising!
The idea was to host a food festival: f*cking good food + f*cking great music in that order.
And, to be honest, it absolutely over classed my expectations.
Fun, open, no nonsense, a vibrant location, a laid-back but dedicated organization, tasty unconventional food, good looking star chefs and loads of gastronomic energy.
I've visited the gig, baptized as 'Flemish Food Fest' by 3 young, very talented Flemish chefs : Olly Ceulenaere, Jason Blanckaert en Kobe Desramaults, last Sunday morning as a guest of Kobe's sister Eef and his sister in law Angelique (VERY grateful, ladies!!)
For me it was a celebration of good, natural food. Or let's call it a nonchalant, very addictive cocktail of honest Rock n' Roll attitude by 3 golden boys.
Olly, Jason and Kobe strolled around the entire day on their own harbor garden fest and had the time of their life, not in the least impressed by all the attention on their behalf. And attention, they got plenty.
The entire Belgian, and international food media was present for this event (and off course for the all star parade later that day for the Gelinaz! gig later that day: http://gelinaz.com.
Enjoy this photo story on the first part of the day: the bio farmers, the street animation theatre, the Beer Garden with special, local beers & wines, and the Fest vibe.
Coming post on the star chefs, their 'inviteƩs' and a BBQ impression.

The street animation. This was the 'duck hunt':

The live Bands? Did you see or hear THE WOODS, THEY INVENTED NEBRASKA, THE FUTURE DEAD, SHYLIPS and THE IDIOTS? Honestly, what a waste of their talent...
The bands were 'locked away' in a barn. Good vibes but no living soul to enjoy this essential part of the 'Food Fest': the much loved rock n' roll injection to spice up the (too) laid back crowd that preferred to take a sunbath after the BBQ meal.
Next time guys, give your music guests a stage you can't miss!

Ah yes, well, this one you can't miss. Every festival has a hymn! The FFF surprised us with this hilarious one: "Nom Nom" by Kenji Minogue. Enjoy.
And for the "wankers" who complained about their food tickets, the lack of organization, not enough food etc... Stay home next time. This kind of events just are so cool because they are not killed by rules, organized cueing lines and no-go zones. Please!
