 On October 15th and 16th ASVOFF6, the sixth edition of the fashion short film festival of Diane Pernet will come to Antwerp. ASVOFF6 ANTWERP is organized in collaboration with MoMu – Fashion Museum province of Antwerp and the city of Antwerp and will take place at AMUZ, situated in and around the 17th century baroque St. Augustine Church, located in the centre of Antwerp. The building combines an impressive historical setting with all the technical features of a modern concert hall. |

The programme includes a selection of short movies selected from the ASVOFF6 edition around the theme of DREAM. Highlights in the selection include ao ’Les Stars’, directed by Serge Lutens, fashion and film icon Daphne Guinness starring in ’Shakki’ directed by emerging French director Julien Landais, and ’Sister Act’, directed by Ellen von Unwerth.

Together with the ASVOFF-festival, MoMu will present MOMU3 , a series of 3 fashion films in collaboration with Bulo, created by Antwerp photographer and artist Frederik Heyman in which he infuses a selection of historical and contemporary silhouettes from the rich collection of the MoMu with digital life by using 3D scans and manipulations.

ASVOFF in Antwerp_
Big, big Air-a life inspiration day
At the VW Big Air contest, the biggest, the highest ramp ever built in any dimension. This snowboard ramp provided the longest 'artificial' jump ever with about 16 meters in length and we could go and watch the weekend of 9 and 10 November! As I saw it being built a few days before, we had to see it for ourselves at the kick-off on friday night.
And? Well, I have to say: a very impressive setting, a great crowd and it almost felt like an winter edition of a rock festival. Because the great thing about this particular scene and this sport is that while the boarders jump, a LIVE DJ drives their adrenaline higher and sets the crowd on fire.
Maybe an idea for Chokri or Herm when they look for new opportunities: what about Rock Winter Werchter or Pukkelpop Freeze?
Antwerp based champion Seppe Smits managed to win Saturday the contest in the presence of 10,000 snow board a fans who gathered at the Waagnatie harbor.
Congratulations Seppe and thanks for the great initiative!

Press days Oona-a life inspiration day
Last week, I visited some press rooms in Antwerp to take a look at the coming season collections, novelties and must-haves.
The first "primeur": while parking in front of the great new hub of the Oona team, I saw the 'Big Air' take-off being built (later more).
The Oona portfolio is impressive. Check Essentiel, OMSK, La Fille d'O, Kiehl's, Urbanears, River Island, Anne Zelien, Atelier Elf, Café Costume and Marshall to name a few.
Great vibe and nice to see everybody again: Lien Tiany, Saskia, Alexandra, the bloggers scene, they all popped in to pre-view the A/W collections 2013.
Cointreau bartenders mixed a delicious, refreshing cucumber/basil Cointreau based cocktail and while chatting with Francine, Werner and Birgit, I must admit, we had a few.
I stayed so much longer than planned, but hey, when a girl is having fun...

Wasbar launch party-an inspiration story day
The rumors, the gossip, the WOM did it's job months before we even could see what the fuzz was all about!
"Some guys in Ghent planed to make a new style 'wasserette with bar' and it was going to be the bom!"
With a buzz like that the expectations were VERY high, and when I heard that design agency Pinkeye was involved in the scenery it could' get any better. Ruud, Luc and the others would certainly do a splendid job.
I spotted the new venue to my client Eskimo (an authentic Ghent based night and underwear label-yeah,the one with the Eskimo and Pinguin logo) and they did join in as one of the early bird sponsors of Wasbar!

What about the venue, what about the was bar concept, what about the party?
Well, in one word: DE MAXX!
Dries Henau and Yuri Vandenbogaerde, the head and heart of this Wasbar idea jumped in their best suit (nice choice, guys!), talked to the press, did some interviews for TV and played perfect host.
Saskia of The Wicked PR gathered an eclectic mix of Ghent and Antwerp based crowd, that blended well together.
The vibe was good, the band Zinger that won the last edition of 'De Beloften' gave a great kick off concert and there was more than enough cava, beer and fun people.

I like the Wasbar design, it's not pretentious, it feels homy in a way, with a 'new retro' touch. I love the handcrafted logo, the wash bags, the mix of new up cycled furniture and the washed off colors.
The omni present sanserveria's are not my thing, maybe I saw one too many in other design concepts. But hey, thats a detail.

Check out the washing machines, they all have names of grandparents.
There was a Facebook contest to choose the best names.
My grandma's name was Aleidis, great name though, but the chosen ones fitted more the retro concept: enter den Marcel, ons Mariette or La Juliana.
Electrolux had the privilege to deliver the high-tech machines, wash-virgins find loads of tips & advice on the walls or on Samsung tablets and Ecover takes (eco)care of your laundry dirt. Nice detail: also dry cleaning and ironing service are provided!
Oh yes, I forgot to mention, there is also 'coiffeur de maison' Olivier, who cuts, blows and styles your hair while your laundry gets clean. Olivier uses the Steampod, the steam iron for hip hairstylists. So ladies who like a 'one-hour- quicky', you know where to go.
Mum's all over Flanders will notice that there is a new spot in town! No longer they will need to wash the laundry of their students in the weekend, as the kids found their favorite spot to do it themselves.
Sometimes we just need one brilliant idea, to change the mentality of a generation.

Special days like 'man day', do-day, or even a brunch day on Sunday make sure that you have a reason everyday to pop in, even if you don't have dirty undies....
