I saw my first 'Cattelan' in 2000, at the magnificent art show " The horror and beauty of contemporary art" in the the Royal Academy in London. http://www.absolutearts.com/artsnews/2000/09/28/27501.html

His work " Pope stroke by a meteorite" was funny, intriguing and a statement for sure. I knew from that moment I was going to find out more about Cattelans' critical but always humorous work. 

He turned out to be one of the most discussed artists in the art world. I could have known.

Et alors, as he is exhibiting in Swiss and this image again is as memorable as can be, he made it The Squid Stories 'Image of the day'. Find out if you recognize Cattelans' signature drivers: the paradoxes in society and it's alienation, as well as the individuals’ struggle to find a place in this mentioned society.

Cattelan already presented some single hanging horses in the past, making poetic statements on loneliness. But these five look like they escaped or run away from something. An act of survival towards something better? Wonder what the horses see at the other side of the wall? Me too.

Nr°27-image of the day

Always been a huge fan of Tadao Ando, a Japanese, strong minimalist architect, with a very personal aesthetic signature.

As the image of the day (This section on my blog I really want to explore more, I promise) I selected this beautiful image of a RANCH Ando designed for Mister Aesthetic Tom Ford himself.

A strong statement in the desert on the dusty grounds of New Mexico, where this luxe ranch completes the scenic views of Ford’s Santa Fe residence.

Nr°25 Image of the day

Look at this miracle pine, a single tree that survived the Japanese tsunami in 2011. This lone pine was the only one from the 70.000 plants along the coast to survive the horrible catastrophe.
What a great poetic thought to turn this lonesome survivor into a statue in honor of the 19.000 people who died there.

But, a few months after the tsunami, because of the exposure to seawater, the roots of the tree started to die too. Dedicated teams dissected the tree in smaller parts and the hollowed out branches were reassembled with a carbon spine inside.

You find this symbol of hope in Iwate Prefecture. Enjoy it in his solitary beauty and pay it a visit when you are in the neighbourhood. Ya, the Japanese neighborhood.

Nr°21 Image of the day

Some images can't be shared enough by people, and this is one. What a great, great idea!

Imagine, you're lying in a hospital bed as a kid. You feel like shit, you miss your friends and all of a sudden ... Spiderman pops up on your window, outside 80 feet high, cleaning your window!

3 men* from a window cleaning company in Memphis, Tennessee, came up with this amazing act to cheer up kids in hospitals. Not only Spiderman but also Captain America crawled  up and down their windows outside! 

*Steve Oszaniec, his son Danny Oszaniec and Jordan Emerson became our heroes as the most famous American superheroe Window Cleaners.

(Another similar act happened at the All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida. )
