B.L.C.K is there to stay_a life inspiration story

Some people are natural born retailers. They feel the 'zeit-geist' in lifestyle stuff (fashion, design, accessoiries) and most of all, they just A.C.T.!

Christophe Urbain is one of those real 'entrepreneurs' who just think and act at the same time.

Result (this month): a brand new store 'breeded' in the cellar of his (third) store Rewind Men, opened last week for the press and 'the Ghent-scene'.

Fashion freaks know: black is always good but is back as never before.

Black makes it possible to focus on pure shape instead of color and that is fascinating and liberating at the same time.

What to expect? Only black stuff: fashion, objects, furniture, scents.

Labels? DRKSHDW en Lilies collecties of Rick Owens, Avelon, The Last Conspiracy, A.Friend by A.F. Vandevorst, V Ave Shoe Repair, Konceptkramer, Private 0204, Byredo, Nmbr 9, Nico Uytterhaegen and Werkstatt München.

Beware: not everything is delivered yet, but hey, we're very happy to pop by once in a while to check out new arrivals!

Love the shop, love the energy of new retail stories in Ghent and love the people who keep on surprising us.

Sun for Flamingo-An inspiration story-day 111.2

Not a review about the latest bar concept of Brussels bar guru Frédéric Nicolay that's been open since June 2012, but a small post about the amazing idea of putting reflecting mirrors on top of a neighbors roof, to reflect sun rays to their terrace.
I just love it, and when I last landed there for a quick lunch, I could see it actually works!
Natural light is been caught by twenty something mirrored dishes, turned towards the sun. Subtile but once you noticed you keep on looking.

Bar Flamingo is situated in the Alhambrawijk, on the corner the Lakenstraat opposite the KVS.
Try to visit on a sunny day, seek some (reflected) sun and admire at the same time this genius innovative mirror composition, that even looks like a work of art on the omnipresent satellite dishes.

Next week we go to Damien Hirst-An inspiration story-day 111.1

Next week, Saturday September 8th, we go to London, to see ( I know it's very short notice) the fabulous Damien Hirst exhibition at Tate Modern.

I'm looking forward to see it again, and to discover new work.

I was In New York September 2000 so 12 years ago when Hirst showed. Larry Gagosian held the Hirst show that moment called Damien Hirst: Models, Methods, Approaches, Assumptions, Results and Findings.

100,000 people visited the show in 12 weeks and all the work was sold.

I was there, by accident, and since that day, I'm a huge fan.

Fantastic: like you have a breakfast at your grandma's: white knitted table protection, self-made juices out of glass bottles with handwritten labels, yummie food ... enfin, after a good night sleep all you need.
Oh, yeah, how do you call this? Hand crochet cooking pot warmers. Kno-what-I-mean?
